Page Text: Posted on December 12, 2012 by valonashehi This semester has been crazy and hectic ever since Hurricane Sandy hit. A lot of people have been depressed or emotional and have felt so alone these past couple of weeks. But that’s where social media comes in. Social media is where people tend to rely on for comfort, and expressing their feelings or connecting with friends to make them feel better. Social media is new media which is like having an Iphone or going on the famous websites Facebook or Twitter. New media has helped tons of students to work together and connect via email or blogs to communicate. If I was hired by Baruch College to suggest some ideas to Brooklyn College about new media I would say keep it up! New media is not going anywhere for a very long time. The next generation of kids will probably be faster, smarter and more used to all of these new technologies since they are starting at such a young age using them. Best way to communicate is through new media. For example, Twitter. If a professor tweeted that class was canceled and every student had Twitter and followed the professor that source of information would spread like wild fire and every person would know that class was canceled for that day. It’s great how fast and convenient new media is. That’s why it’s so popular. That’s why classes are now hybrid and on the internet. We are growing with social and new media and partnering up to become as one. Advertisements
